Parmalat, Italy's iconic food and dairy company, has been declared officially insolvent by an Italian court after unveiling a massive hole in its accounts. The company's rapid decline has shocked Italy, and will reverberate around Europe. It is being called 'Europe's Enron' and there may well be serious state aid issues.
