Putin trumpets Russia’s growth prospects

Vladimir Putin, Russia’s Prime Minister, trumpeted the prospect of strong economic growth and defended his accomplishments in a major address on the 16 September 2010 at the annual Sochi Investment Forum. The speech contrasted sharply with the pessimistic tone adopted by President Dmitry Medvedev in the previous week in a similar landmark speech.

Mr Medvedev, in making the case for the sweeping economic and political reforms he announced in 2009, said that Russia’s emergence from the economic crisis was only temporary and down more to good luck than skill.
