Putin seeks to calm investor fears

Report of comments by Vladimir Putin to investors in October 2011. He was attempting to reassure increasingly sceptical investors that the country was pursuing a course of fiscal conservatism, while arguing that stable politics would boost investment.

He was seeking to calm investors still rattled by the sudden departure in September 2011 of Alexei Kudrin as Finance Minister, who was viewed by many as a guardian of fiscal stability.
