Summary: The European Commission presented on 26 June 2015 two proposals for Council Decisions on the signing and conclusion of a Protocol to the Framework Agreement between the European Union and its Member States, on the one part, and the Republic of Korea, on the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union. On 21 April 2016 the Council of the European Union authorised the signing of the Protocol, which took place on 21 June 2017 in Brussels. The Council approved the conclusion of the Protocol on 13 July 2018. Further information: In accordance with the Act of Accession, Croatia will accede to international agreements signed or concluded by the European Union by means of a protocol to those agreements. In September 2012 the Council authorised the Commission to open negotiations with the third countries concerned, in order to conclude the relevant protocols. The negotiations with the Republic of Korea were successfully concluded by the initialling of the Protocol. |
