Prospects for the market supply of wood and other forest products from areas with fragmented forest-ownership structures

Based on the EU Forestry Strategy, the overall aim of the EU Forest Action Plan is to support and enhance sustainable forest management and the multifunctional role of forests. It provides a framework for the implementation of forest-related actions at Community and Member States level, and serves as an instrument of co-ordination between Community actions and forest policies of the Member States.

Within Action 5 (Foster the cooperation between forest owners and enhance education and training in forestry), Activity 5.2 of the work programme for implementation of the Action Plan indicates that a study on the market supply of wood and other forest products, in particular on obstacles to mobilisation due to fragmented ownership structures, will be carried out.
