Summary: Legislative proposal - published by the European Commission in May 2018 - for the revision of the Regulation on tyres labelling and repealling Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009. Further information: The proposed Regulation would replace the Tyre Labelling Regulation (TLR), with respect to fuel efficiency and other essential parameters. It aims to provide consumers with more information on fuel efficiency, safety and noise, allowing them to obtain accurate, relevant and comparable information on those aspects when purchasing tyres. The proposal was adopted by the European Commission on 17 May 2018, as part of a set of legislative proposals and non-legislative actions that together constitute the third 'Europe on the move' package. The Council of the European Union adopted its general approach on 4 March 2019. The European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on 25 September. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text was reached on 13 November. The draft law was formally endorsed by the Council on 25 February 2020, and by the Parliament on 14 May. |
