Summary:Regulation (EU) 2024/2748 - adopted by the co-legislators on 9 October 2024 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, Regulation (EU) 2016/424, Regulation (EU) 2016/425, Regulation (EU) 2016/426, Regulation (EU) 2023/988 and Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 as regards emergency procedures for the conformity assessment, presumption of conformity, adoption of common specifications and market surveillance due to an internal market emergency. This is a text with EEA relevance. Further information:Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 sets out the conditions for the marketing of construction products, the methods and criteria for assessing and expressing their performance. Regulation (EU) 2016/424 sets out rules on the essential safety requirements, design, construction and entry into service of new cableways carrying passengers. Regulation (EU) 2016/425 lays down requirements for the design and manufacture of personal protection equipment (PPE). Regulation (EU) 2016/426 establishes the rules for the placing on the market and putting into service of appliances burning gaseous fuels and their fittings. Regulation (EU) 2023/988 provides for general product safety. Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 sets out rules for machinery and related products in order to ensure safety for workers and citizens in the European Union. The amendments introduced by this Regulation are related to the so-called Internal Market Emergency and Resilience Act (IMERA). The draft law was adopted by the European Commission on 19 September 2022. The Council of the European Union adopted its general approach to the proposal on 7 June 2023. The plenary of the European Parliament endorsed a negotiating position on 13 September. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text for this file on 1 February 2024. This was formally endorsed by Parliament on 24 April and by the Council on 26 September. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on 9 October 2024 and published in the Official Journal on 8 November 2024. |
