The European Commission launched on 23 May 2018 a proposal amending Regulation 883/2013 concerning investigations conducted by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). This amendment seeks to ensure that OLAF is equipped to work closely with the EPPO to detect and investigate fraud across the European Union.

The Council of the European Union adopted in October 2017 a Regulation implementing an enhanced cooperation initiative on the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO). The proposed amendment to Regulaton (EU, Euratom) No 883/2013 aims to ensure that OLAF becomes a close and reliable partner of the EPPO, and that it continues to conduct administrative investigations to complement the EPPO's work.
