Summary: Legislative initiative published by the European Commission on 29 May 2020, which proposes amendments to Regulation (EC) No 1257/96 on humanitarian assistance. Further information: Regulation (EC) No 1257/96 sets out the main goals, principles and procedures for implementing humanitarian aid operations by the European Union (EU). The proposal introduces the changes deemed necessary to reinforce humanitarian aid provision in the context of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and support capacity building to enhance future crisis prevention and preparedness. The proposal was unveiled on 29 May 2020, as part of the EU Recovery Plan and alongside revamped proposals for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027. |
