Directive 2000/14/EC aims to harmonise noise emission standards, conformity assessment procedures, noise level marking and the gathering of data on noise emissions. Directive (EU) 2006/42/EC - also known as theĀ Machinery Directive - establishes a regulatory framework for placing machinery on the Single Market of the European Union (EU). Directive 2010/35/EU sets out rules on transportable pressure equipment.

Directive 2014/29/EU concerns the harmonisation of the laws in the EU relating to the making available on the market of simple pressure vessels. Directive 2014/30/EU harmonises national legislation on electromagnetic compatibility. Directive 2014/33/EU concerns the harmonisation of national laws relating to lifts and safety components for lifts. Directive 2014/34/EU concerns the harmonisation of national legislation relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Directive 2014/35/EU concerns the harmonisation national legislation relating to the making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits. Directive 2014/53/EU relates to the harmonisation of national law on the availability on the market of radio equipment. Directive 2014/68/EU concerns the harmonisation of national legislation relating to the making available on the market of pressure equipment.

The amendments introduced by this Regulation are related to the so-calledĀ Internal Market Emergency and Resilience Act (IMERA). The draft law was adopted by the European Commission on 19 September 2022. The Council of the European Union adopted its general approach to the proposal on 7 June 2023. The plenary of the European Parliament endorsed a negotiating position on 13 September. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text for this file on 1 February 2024. This was formally endorsed by Parliament on 24 April and by the Council on 26 September. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on 9 October 2024 and published in the Official Journal on 8 November 2024.
