Summary: Decision (EU) 2022/548 - formally signed by the co-legislators on 24 March 2022 - which mobilises the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2021/007 FR/Selecta. Further information: The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. France submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF in October 2021, aimed at supporting former workers of vending machine company Selecta due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met. On 7 February 2022, it tabled a proposal for a Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €4 million in respect of the application submitted by the French authorities. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on 24 March 2022, and published in the Official Journal on 6 April 2022. |
