Summary: Decision (EU) 2022/359 - formally signed by the co-legislators on 16 February 2022 - which mobilises the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2021/005 FR/Airbus. Further information: The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. France submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF in July 2021, following job losses in Airbus due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met. On 19 November 2021, it tabled a proposal for a Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €3.7 million in respect of the application submitted by the French authorities. The European Parliament endorsed the proposed Decision on 16 February 2022. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on that same day, and published in the Official Journal on 3 March 2022. |
