Summary: Regulation (EU) 2021/2085 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 19 November 2021 - concerning the establishment of Joint Undertakings under Horizon Europe. This is also known as the Single Basic Act. It repeals Regulation (EC) No 219/2007, Regulation (EU) No 557/2014, Regulation (EU) 558/2014, Regulation (EU) No 559/2014, Regulation (EU) No 560/2014, Regulation (EU) No 561/2014 and Regulation (EU) No 642/2014. Further information: Horizon Europe is the European Union's key funding programme for research and innovation (R&I). The joint undertakings complement that framework by addressing global challenges and priorities that require critical mass and long-term vision. The draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 23 February 2021, as part of a package of institutionalised European partnerships. These partnerships combine co-investment with additional private and public sector funds in areas where the scope of the R&I resources can help achieve the EU's Horizon Europe priorities. The Council of the European Union adopted the initiative on 19 November 2021, covering a set of nine institutionalised European partnerships:
