Summary:Regulation (EU) 2023/1782 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 25 July 2023 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EU) 2021/2085 as regards the Chips Joint Undertaking. This is a text with EEA relevance. Further information:Council Regulation (EU) 2021/2085 established the Joint Undertakings in the framework of the Horizon Europe programme. This Council Regulation complements the so-called Chips Act by implementing most of the actions foreseen under the Chips for Europe Initiative, set up under that legislative act. It amends the legal provisions of Council Regulation (EU) 2021/2085 for equipping the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking for its news tasks related to the Initiative. This Act renames it as the Chips Joint Undertaking. The draft law was published on 8 February 2022 alongside a Communication providing the reasoning behind the need to strengthen the EU's semiconductor system. The Council of the European Union adopted the proposed text on 25 July 2023. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 18 September 2023. |
