Summary: Proposal tabled by the European Commission on 13 January 2022 for a Council Recommendation concerning the mobility of young volunteers across the European Union (EU). This is a text with EEA relevance. Further information: The proposed Council Recommendation aims to replace and build on the one adopted by the Council in November 2008. It aims to recognise the key contribution of volunteering for the development of young people's skills and competences and its role in positively overcoming societal challenges. The draft Recommendation aims to boost the inclusiveness, quality, recognition and sustainability dimensions of transnational youth volunteering. The proposal also addresses outstanding obstacles to volunteering mobility, taking into account lessons learned during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and in the implementation of theĀ European Solidarity Corps. The proposed Recommendation was tabled by the European Commission on 13 January 2022, and it was seen one of the first initiatives in the framework of theĀ European Year of Youth. |
