Proposal for a Council Decision on the signing, on behalf of the European Union and its Member States, and provisional application of the Additional Protocol to the Trade, Development and Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of South Africa, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union

On 24 September 2012, the Council authorised the Commission to open negotiations with the Republic of South Africa in order to conclude an Additional Protocol to the Trade, Development and Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of South Africa, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union. Those negotiations were successfully completed on 19 May 2014.

The Commission proposes that the Council adopts two decisions:
(a) on the signature and provisional application of the Protocol on behalf of the European Union and its Member States; and
(b) on the conclusion of the Protocol on behalf of the European Union and its Member States.

The attached proposal is for a Council decision on the signature and the provisional application of the Protocol. A parallel decision is proposed for the conclusion of the Protocol on behalf of the European Union and its Member States.
