Summary: Proposal presented on 11 October 2019 by the European Commission establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union concerning the adoption of a decision regarding the functioning of the Appellate Tribunal. Further information: The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada, of the one part, and the European Union and its Member States, of the other part aims to liberalise and facilitate trade and investment, as well as to promote a closer economic relationship between the EU and Canada. The Agreement was signed on 30 October 2016 and has been provisionally applied since 21 September 2017. The CETA Joint Committee is responsible for all questions concerning trade and investment between the parties and the implementation and application of the Agreement. The Committee is to adopt a decision setting out the administrative and organisational matters regarding the functioning of the Appellate Tribunal. A separate proposal, published on the same date, establishes the position to be taken on behalf of the Union concerningĀ a decision on the procedure for the adoption of interpretations of the investment provisions of the Agreement. |
