A revolt in the government of Romano Prodi, Italy's prime minister plunged his centre-left coalition into its worst crisis, October 2006, since it took power after the April 2006. Opposition legislators said Mr Prodi's coalition had become a laughing stock after Italy of Values, a small centre-left party, astonished its partners and engineered the defeat of a key provision in a government bill on judicial reform.
