Press Release: Workers must know their rights and responsibilities when coming to the UK, says employment minister

Workers from new EU member states coming to the UK to take up job opportunities must be protected from exploitation by unscrupulous employers, UK Employment Relations Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe, said on 28 June 2004. Mr Sutcliffe was speaking at the launch of two employment rights leaflets, produced for Polish and Lithuanian nationals, that give useful information to potentially vulnerable workers about employment rights and tax and national insurance responsibilities under UK employment law.
