Press Release: Water environment reports submitted to the European Commission

A review of the impact of human activity on the status of the United Kingdom's water environment and an economic analysis of water use was submitted to the European Commission by the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in March 2005, as part of the implementation process of the Water Framework Directive. Initial reports were submitted for all River Basin Districts in England, highlighting which water bodies were 'at risk' or 'probably at risk' of not meeting the requirements of the Directive by 2015 if no action was taken.
