Press Release: VAT: the Commission asks Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Austria for information concerning the application of exemptions

The European Commission decided to send requests for information in the form of letters of formal notice to several Member States about their legislation regarding the application of certain exemptions under the VAT Directive. The Member States involved are asked to reply within two months to the letters of formal notice, which are the first step of the infringement procedure laid down in Article 226 of the EC Treaty.
