From 1 July 2003 transaction charges for retail cross border credit transfers in euro within the EU must be charged at the same rate as the equivalent domestic transaction. This obligation flows from the Cross-Border Payments Regulation adopted by the EU in December 2001. Enforcement of this measure in Ireland is vested in the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority. |
