Almost a quarter of the Dutch population (24%) feel 'involved' with the European Union, 36% feel 'slightly involved', and 39% feel 'uninvolved'. Most than half of those who feel uninvolved (58%) consider the EU 'quite important'. The survey is intended to provide a baseline for the three-year publicity campaign launched on 15 March under the slogan 'Europa, Best Belangrijk' ('Europe. It matters'). The goal of the campaign, in which all of central government is taking part, is to get ordinary citizens interested in the EU by making it more 'personally relevant' to them. A follow-up survey will be conducted in mid-October to gauge the campaign's success
