Press Release: The latest statistics on immigration and asylum

Work applications from the eight accession countries (A8) have fallen to their lowest level since they joined the European Union (EU) in 2004, according to the latest issue of the 'Accession Monitoring Report' produced by the UK Border Agency and others and issued on 24 February 2009. The latest issue of 'Bulgarian and Romanian Accession Statistics', also produced by the UK Border Agency and the Department for Work and Pensions, show that applications from these two countries have also fallen.
