European Sports Commissioner, Viviane Reding, presented the new athlete's passport in Salt Lake City on 7 February 2002. This new tool, funded by the European Commission, is being developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The passport, whose use will be voluntary, is designed to help athletes take responsibility for their own actions and, at the same time, to make drug testing more transparent. Its purpose is not only to promote fair play but also to protect athletes' health. |
