Press Release: The European Commission approves social aid scheme for air travel in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland

The European Commission on 16 May 2006 found that a State aid scheme proposed by the Scottish Executive for aid of a social character for air transport services to, from and within certain eligible regions of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland was compatible with the common market. The approved scheme was to be available to all people who reside in the most peripheral parts of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
