On 5.6.00 the European Commission adopted a proposal to amend the 2000 Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for anchovy in the Bay of Biscay, on the basis of new scientific data. Responding to scientific concern over the depleted state of this stock, the Council of Fisheries Ministers, meeting in December 1999, fixed an intermediate TAC for 2000 of just under half of the TAC for 1999. Provision was made for a revision of this TAC in the light of new scientific data in the first half of 2000. |
