Press Release: The Commission creates a European Energy and Transport Forum

The European Commission decided on 12 July 2001 to create a European Energy and Transport Forum. The Forum has been set up in response to the request of the Transport Council to create a Transport Forum and is needed to replace the Energy Consultative Committee, whose mandate expired in February 2001. It will provide a single framework for dialogue between the Commission and the two industries and will enable the interdependent aspects of energy policy and transport policy to be managed more effectively and the players from these two sectors to be brought together.
