Press Release: Terry Davis: ‘Political parties should be our strongest allies in achieving a society free of racism’

'Political parties should be in the forefront of our active campaign against racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia,' Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, stressed at the opening of a high-level meeting on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, 21 March 2005. The aim of the meeting, organised by the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) in Paris, was to present a new study on the use of racist, anti-Semitic and xenophobic rhetoric in election campaigns and other political circumstances.
