Press Release: Television quotas: European channels fulfil their obligations

The Commission has adopted the fourth report on the implementation of the provisions of the “television without frontiers” Directive with regard to the broadcasting of European works and independent productions. This report, covering the period 1997 and 1998, notes that the aims of the Directive have generally been achieved. Most Member States have introduced more rigorous legislation than that laid down by the Directive.
