Press Release: ‘Subsidiarity is key to the welfare of our citizens’, EP President Jerzy Buzek tells CoR plenary session

Addressing Europe's elected regional and local representatives at plenary session of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussels on 7 October 2007, Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament, emphasised the importance of decentralisation and subsidiarity, especially for Europe's responses to current challenges such as economic development or the fight against climate change. Luc Van den Brande, President of the Committee of the Regions, pledged the CoR's readiness to tackle these challenges together in Europe's regions and cities, and suggested to upgrade the good working relationship between the two institutions in order to achieve their common goals.
