Press Release: Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the second anniversary of South Sudan’s independence

On 9 July 2013 EU High Representative Catherine Ashton congratulated the people of the Republic of South Sudan on the occasion of the second anniversary of their independence. The High Representative encouraged the Government to demonstrate its commitment to national reconciliation, democratic and transparent governance and respect for human rights as the core of its vision for the future.
