The European Commission launched an in-depth investigation into the investment planned by the municipality of Rotterdam to renovate and develop the Ahoy' exhibition, conference and entertainment complex. The Commission is also reviewing the conditions of the transactions concluded between the municipality and the operator of the complex. At this stage, the Commission cannot exclude that the investment could involve an advantage to the operator of the complex. The in-depth investigation will enable the Commission to determine whether the investment constitutes state aid and, if so, whether it distorts competition unduly. Interested parties will have the opportunity to submit their comments on the proposed measure to the Commission. The opening of an in-depth investigation does not prejudge the outcome of the procedure. |
