Press Release: State aid: Commission opens in-depth inquiry into financial measures granted to Finnish property company Ålands Industrihus

On 31 Janury, 2008, the European Commission opened a formal investigation to examine whether a number of measures granted by the Local Government of Åland in favour of Ålands Industrihus Ab (ÅI), a publicly owned commercial property company on the Åland islands in Finland, are compatible with EC Treaty state aid rules. The Commission was concerned that these measures were granted to ÅI under conditions that would not be acceptable to a prudent market economy investor. The opening of an in-depth investigation allowed interested parties a possibility to submit their comments.
