Press Release: State aid: Commission approves the restructuring of Austrian Airlines

On 28 August, 2009, the Commission decided to close the formal investigation procedure into the privatisation and restructuring of Austrian Airlines, concluding that the restructuring following its sale to Lufthansa was compatible with community law. The Commission concluded that the price to be paid by Lufthansa involved State aid but that such aid was compatible with the Community framework for rescue and restructuring of firms in difficulty.
