The European Commission on 9 November 2005 approved as being compatible with the state aid rules of the EC Treaty a new French scheme with an annual budget of €4 million to support production of innovative audiovisual works. The Commission authorised the scheme, even though it involved state aid, as it served to foster cultural development without affecting trade between Member States to an extent contrary to the common interest. |
