Press Release: Space has a security dimension, security has a space dimension

The Space and Security Panel of Experts on 22 March 2005 published a report on the security aspects of European Space Policy. Its main findings were that since the global security environment had undergone dramatic, fundamental and profound change in recent years, space technologies could make a significant contribution to the fight against a wide range of threats, from natural disasters to terrorist attacks. The Panel of Experts recommended setting up a coherent European framework to contribute to the space-based elements of a global situation awareness system.
