The European Commission on 4 May 2006 published its annual performance report on the SOLVIT network. The network, set up by the European Commission and EU Member States to help citizens and businesses get misapplications of EU law corrected, dealt with 465 cases in 2005. This was an increase of 61% on 2004 levels and showed that more and more citizens and businesses were availing of the fast and informal alternative approach to problem-solving that SOLVIT offers. SOLVIT continued to resolve around four out of every five cases it was handling. However, according to the report Member States needed to make more resources available to deal with the growing case load and ensure the continued success of SOLVIT.
