Report of a ceremony in Odessa on 30 November 2005 to mark the launch of the EU Border Assistance Mission and the enhanced team of the EU Special Representative for Moldova. The Border Assistance Mission was to be headed by Brigadier-General Ferenc Banfi of Hungary, and was to include border police and customs officials from 16 EU Member States. This Mission was set up to help prevent smuggling, trafficking and customs fraud, by providing advice and training to improve the capacity of the Moldovan and Ukrainian border and customs services. |
