Press Release: Sierra Leone: Commission to allocate 12 million euro for emergency humanitarian programme

On 5.6.00, in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sierra Leone, the European Commission, after consulting European Union Member States, launched the procedure leading to the commitment of a further 12 million Euro for the funding of emergency humanitarian assistance. The overriding objective of this intervention is to come to the aid of Sierra Leoneans affected by the conflict. Specific programmes will also be aimed at women and children. The European Commission Humanitarian Office (ECHO) will manage the aid.
