Press Release: Science and Research Commissioner visits the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

European Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik will make his first official visit to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on 15 and 16 November 2006. Commissioner Potocnik will meet the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski as well as Deputy Prime Minister Gabriela Konevska, responsible for European integration and Sulejman Rushiti, Minister of Education and Science. During his trip, he will visit the Institute for Seismological Research (IZIIS) and address the academic and business communities on the subject of how research can help integration into the EU. The visit is one of a series to countries that are candidates for accession to the EU, in order to highlight the contribution science and research can make to these countries’ integration into the EU.
