The Danube Co-operation Process is the result of a common Romanian-Austrian initiative. The demarches taken by the two states and by the Stability Pact and the European Commission were successfully met by launching, at Vienna, on May 27th 2002, the first political process of co-operation in the Danube region. Conceived as a political exercise of enlargement of Danube States, the Process has established as its main goal harmonizing and coordinating a diversity of Danube collaboration initiatives
