Press Release: Review of European directives on personal protective equipment and workplace safety

The aim of this Review was to evaluate the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 to ensure that the regulations were cost effective, met the needs of business whilst ensuring they protected the health and safety of employees, and fulfilled the UK's commitment to implement the EC Workplace Directive (89/654/EEC) and the EC Directive on Personal Protective Equipment (89/656/EEC). Deadline for responses: 30 May 2003.
