Press Release: Prodi tells Gaddafi: conditions for visit to Brussels not yet met

European Commission President Romano Prodi, in the framework of the established policy of the European Union to seek the full integration of Libya into the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and in close contact with External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten and Council Secretary General Javier Solana, made it clear, on 21.1.00, that in order for a visit to the European Commission by Colonel Gaddafi to take place, Libya would have to formally confirm full acceptance of the 'Barcelona Declaration'.
