Press Release: Philippines: Commission allocates EUR 2m in humanitarian aid for victims of typhoons

The European Commission has adopted a €2 million emergency decision for the victims of typhoons that have struck the Philippines over the last four months of 2006. The aid provided will focus on the provision of drinking water, hygiene promotion and sanitation activities, distribution of non-food items and shelter repair. The funding is channelled through the European Commission Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO), under the responsibility of Commissioner Louis Michel.
