The EU Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten, attended the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Governments of South East European Countries (SEECP) in Skopje on 23.2.01. Mr Patten's attendance at this event signalled the Commission's strong support for initiatives led by countries of South East Europe to work together to promote regional development. The need for a new era of regional co-operation was one of the principal messages at the 24.11.00 Zagreb Summit. The SEECP comprises Greece, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Turkey and Romania. Croatia is an observer. |
