The European Ombudsman, P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, has called on the Council to reconsider the language regime for the websites of the EU Presidencies. This follows a complaint from an association which claims that these websites should be available not only in English and French, but also in German. The Council argues that the Member State holding the Presidency is solely responsible for its website. The Ombudsman disagrees and, following the Council’s rejection of his draft recommendation, has brought the matter before the European Parliament.
