Press Release: Ombudsman spreads the word on citizens’ rights

The European Ombudsman, Jacob Söderman, published the European Code of Good Administrative Behaviour as a user-friendly brochure on 18 March 2002. Delivering it in 11 languages to the heads of all EU institutions and bodies, the Ombudsman called on them to adopt this Code. Mr Söderman said the Code 'tells European citizens what they have a right to expect from the EU administration and gives guidance to officials on how to behave in dealing with the public'.
