Press Release: Ombudsman finds Council has given no valid reasons for continuing to legislate behind closed doors

The European Ombudsman, Nikiforos Diamandouros, on 11 October 2005 presented a special report to the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions in which he found that the Council had given no valid reasons for refusing to meet in public whenever it is acting in its legislative capacity.
