The social security systems in Germany need to be reformed in order to make it possible to preserve them. People are going to come to understand this more and more Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said in a television interview on the 2 July 2004. In his inaugural speech on 1 July 2004 Germany's new President, Horst Köhler, also encouraged the government to continue systematically on the path of reform. He has called for a new departure and a change of mentality in Germany. |
